Tips & Tricks

Assist with Tracing:

For younger children, provide assistance when tracing your child’s hand. This ensures accurate outlines and minimizes frustration, making the crafting experience more enjoyable.

Precut Elements for Younger Children:

For best results if you’re working with younger children, consider precutting the mountain, cross, and “He is Risen” text. This simplifies the craft, allowing them to focus on arranging and gluing the elements.

Encourage Personalization:

Encourage kids to add their personal touch to the scene. Whether it’s additional drawings, a stamp pad or even a sprinkle of glitter, let their creativity shine. You can even add your favorite bible verses to the front or back of this craft.

Discuss the Easter Story:

Before starting the craft, take a moment to discuss the Easter story with your child. Understanding the narrative enhances the significance of the craft and encourages thoughtful engagement.

Variation Ideas

Watercolor Paints:

Swap out the solid color background for a watercolor-painted one. This adds a soft, dreamy effect to the craft, creating a picturesque Easter scene.

Mixed Media:

Combine various crafting materials like beads, sequins, or even small ribbons to embellish the scene. Let your child’s imagination run wild with the possibilities of mixed media. You can also choose different colors for the construction paper;  instead of brown or black paper for the cross, let children pick something else.

Paint Handprints:

If you don’t mind a tiny bit of mess, you can swap out the cut paper handprint for painted handprints on this craft. Just get your child to hold their hands up, paint them with washable paint and help them press their hands onto the sheet of blue paper you’re using as a background.

For more cutting practice, put the yellow paint handprints on white paper, let them dry and cut them out before attaching them to your craft.

Benefits of This Easter Handprint Craft For Kids

Expressing Faith Creatively:

This religious Easter craft revolves around the theme of resurrection, allowing kids to express and understand the significance of Easter in a creative manner.

Combining religious themes with art provides a unique avenue for children to explore their faith and values in a hands-on way. This craft makes a great gift idea for grandparents or teachers.

Fine Motor Skills Development:

Tracing and cutting out handprints from cardstock contribute to the development of fine motor skills. This precise activity enhances coordination and control in children’s hand movements.

Spatial Awareness and Arrangement:

Assembling the scene involves arranging various elements – the mountain, cross, and “He is Risen” text – on the background. This promotes spatial awareness and the ability to organize visual components effectively.
