Tips & Troubleshooting

Assembly Issues:

If the flowers or other elements aren’t sticking securely to the paper plate, reinforce them with additional glue or tape as needed. Press down firmly and hold in place until the adhesive sets.

Drying Time:

Ensure that the painted paper plate and glued elements have enough time to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Difficulty Cutting:

If young children are having trouble cutting out the template pieces, provide safety scissors with blunt tips or assist them in cutting. Older kids should be able to manage cutting this fun craft on their own. To make this craft easier for preschool aged children, you may need to pre-cut the template pieces.

Variation Ideas

Educational Focus:

Tailor the craft to focus on specific educational themes. For instance, create a garden featuring native plants to teach children about local flora and fauna. Use this craft as part of your study on insects or flower pollination.

Sensory Garden:

Create a sensory-rich experience by incorporating scented materials like scented markers or essential oils onto the flowers.

Flower Templates:

If you’d prefer to do less tracing and cutting, you can use markers to color in the flower templates that you print on white paper and then cut them out instead of using multiple colors of construction paper.
